ABOUT RACHEL
RACHEL'S STORY
Since joining the media and advertising industry a decade ago, Rachel Lowenstein has been on a mission to leave it better than when she arrived. Her creative contributions to the media landscape are marked by a common thread: masterful storytelling that inspires social change.
For over ten years, Rachel has served as the Global Head of Inclusive Innovation at Mindshare (WPP), where she leads strategy and creativity for brands using marketing, media, and tech to reshape society for good. This leadership role was created specifically for her. Throughout her career, she has worked with some of the world's biggest brands, including Unilever, Booking.com, CHANEL, Nike, Google, UN Women, Getty Images, Meta, and more, to enhance their social impact and cultural fluency in marketing.
Today, Rachel owns her consultancy, Rachel Lowenstein LLC, where she leverages her expertise in cultural fluency, brand strategy, and innovation to guide Fortune 500 companies on the complexities of culture to drive brand growth. Her achievements have been recognized with numerous honors, including a spot on Ad Age’s 40 Under 40 in 2023 and Advertising Week’s Female Is Female Award in 2022. As a sought-after speaker, Rachel has graced prestigious stages worldwide, including the United Nations, Cannes Lions, SXSW, CES, Advertising Week, Yale University, and Mumbrella360.
Despite her success, Rachel grew up as an undiagnosed autistic kid. On the outside, it seemed like she succeeded, but on the inside, she was struggling. She had a hard time speaking in public and socializing, and she felt deep levels of shame. Easy things were hard. Between eating disorders, self-harm, and depression, her mental health was tenuous until she received an autism diagnosis at 30.
Rachel's diagnosis profoundly changed her life, giving her a purpose to prevent neurodivergent girls and women from enduring the same struggles she faced due to widespread misunderstandings of autism and neurodivergent minds. She co-founded Divergent Convergent, a community platform dedicated to making professional environments more accessible for neurodivergent people.
As one of the few openly autistic executives, Rachel is committed to smashing stereotypes about disability through her leadership platform. She is a content creator with a community of over 110,000 followers across LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok. Her platform, @rachelissan, advocates for neuroinclusion and empowers neurodivergent individuals to embrace their authentic selves in their careers.
Authenticity, courage, and vulnerability are her north stars.
“She is a rare and unique voice - inspiring to many, generous with her time and pragmatic advice, and candid about her experiences as a member of the neurodivergent community in the spirit of creating understanding, accessibility and inclusion.”
